On 1st April, The Mauritanian drops on Amazon in the UK! Huge congratulations to our talented 1st Assistant Director, Harry Boyd, for his work on this excellent film.

The Mauritanian tells the true story of Mohamedou Ould Salahi (Tahar Rahim), who was imprisoned and tortured without charge or trial for 14 years on unfounded allegations that he recruited for the 9/11 attacks. The film is based on Salahi’s best-selling memoir, Guantánamo Diary, which he wrote secretly whilst detained.

Defense Attorney, Nancy Hollander (Jodie Foster) and her associate, Teri Duncan (Shailene Woodley) advocate for Salahi in his fight for freedom. Lt. Colonel Stuart Couch (Benedict Cumberbatch) is assigned to prosecute Salahi, but once he begins to uncover the alarming truth about the torture Salahi has been put through to extract a confession, one of America’s darkest conspiracies is revealed.

The film received five BAFTA nominations, including Best Film. Rahim was nominated for Best Actor – Motion Picture Drama at the Golden Globes and Foster won the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress – Motion Picture.
